Monday, I have to pick up a shirt at Marshall Field building, hit the Sears Tower for lunch, then head down to Comiskey Park on the El for the White Sox opener. (Translation: Chicagoans have a tendancy to cling to the old names and I can understand why!)
They changed the name because a company (Willis) promised to lease 6 floors for 10 years. 6 floors of how many, 103? They don't even own the building! They have a longer than normal lease in a building having a tough time selling space. Institutional names come cheap nowadays, I guess.

Comment by John Lisy on February 25, 2009 at 11:03pm - it will be interesting to see how Chicago (Merc, BOT) holds up over the next year or two. Maybe individual traders with risk capital can be an important force in leading us out of the present malaise.
